Australian grain growers are being urged to apply a different lens and focus to their farming operations, with entries now open for the 2025 GrainGrowers Photo Competition.
The annual competition has been running for well over a decade, capturing the spirit of the industry, its people, places, and moments that make it unique.
Four cash prizes are available for aspiring photographers: $1,000 for First Place, $500 for Second Place, $250 for Third Place, and $250 for People’s Choice. The Top 12 selected images will be featured in the 2026 GrainGrowers Calendar. Winning entries will also receive industry-wide exposure through GrainGrowers’ publications and social media channels.
GrainGrowers CEO Shona Gawel said the competition was a fantastic opportunity for growers to share their stories visually.
“The entries received in previous years have celebrated the many different nuances to farms across the country, capturing images that highlight the uniqueness of Australian grain growers.”
“I would encourage growers to get out their cameras or their phones and capture what they enjoy and share a snapshot of life on the farm.”
“What we are looking for are images that showcase the real stories of Australian grain growers. We want growers to not only show the work that goes into growing grain, but also the landscapes, families and communities that make our industry what it is.”
Ms Gawel encouraged growers to get inspired, get involved and enter their images through the GrainGrowers website. Alternatively, growers are invited to keep an eye on the website and vote for their favourite snaps.
The competition is open to all growers and will run throughout October with voting for People’s Choice open for the same period. Entries close on Friday 7 November 2025 at 5:00pm AEDT.
