GrainGrowers is encouraging growers from Western Australia and South Australia to nominate for its National Policy Group (NPG), with applications now open for four Western Region positions.

The NPG brings together growers from across the country to help shape GrainGrowers' policy priorities and ensure the views of grain businesses are reflected in the organisation's advocacy work.

GrainGrowers CEO Shona Gawel said the group plays an important role in ensuring policy positions are informed by growers' practical experience and the realities of farming across Australia's grain-growing regions.

"The National Policy Group gives growers a direct opportunity to have a say on the issues affecting their businesses and the broader grains industry," Ms Gawel said.

"Our grower representatives help review and approve GrainGrowers' policy positions, making sure they're grounded in the experiences of growers and reflect the needs of the regions they represent.

"If you want to represent the views of your area on policy issues that are impacting growers and want to help drive better outcomes, I'd encourage you to consider nominating.

“Having growers at the table, alongside representatives from State Farming Organisations, ensures our policy development is informed by a broad cross-section of the industry. Their insight helps keep GrainGrowers focused on the issues that matter most to grain-growing businesses.”

The NPG operates under GrainGrowers' governance framework and brings together elected grower representatives from across Australia to contribute to the development of the organisation's policy positions.

Western Region representatives play an important role in ensuring the perspectives of growers in Western Australia and South Australia are considered as GrainGrowers develops and advocates for policy solutions on behalf of the industry.

NPG members meet throughout the year, both in person and online. GrainGrowers covers travel and accommodation costs associated with meetings and provides a sitting fee for participation.

Applications for the Western Region are now open and close on 30 October 2026.
