The Western Australian Government's announcement that it will relinquish its membership of the Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC) concludes a highly valued and positive partnership and is a constructive next step towards delivering an industry-led model under Grains Australia, GrainGrowers Chair Rhys Turton said today.
Mr Turton said the commitment by the government to maintain the funding agreement until June 2026 and work alongside Grains Australia highlights the value of strong cooperative arrangements between government and industry.
"GrainGrowers acknowledges and thanks the WA government for its many years of support and for working collaboratively with industry to examine the best structure to deliver the required 'industry good' functions."
Mr Turton said the industry-led model and integration of Grains Australia and AEGIC – expected to come into effect from June 2026 – was a positive move to meet the needs of industry.
"GrainGrowers remains committed to working with both organisations to ensure the core functions undertaken by the updated structure deliver the best possible outcomes in the most efficient manner possible," he said.
