To celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024, GrainGrowers is hosting a special farm finance event at Lower Norton near Horsham on 8 March.

The half-day event combines a financial skill-building workshop with interactive networking opportunities for women in agriculture.

The workshop presented by Agrifocused Director, Carmen Quade covers a range of practical exercises including the impact of rising interest rates on loan accessibility, the challenges posed by escalating land prices and valuable insights and strategies for loan acquisition and refinancing.

The interactive speaker panel includes Ms Quade, Nine Creeks Consulting Director, Pru Cook and AgAsset Farm Management Consultant, Renae Piggott.

GrainGrowers CEO Shona Gawel said the event demonstrates the IWD theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate progress”.

Ms Gawel said GrainGrowers strongly encouraged diversity, equity and inclusion and enthusiastically undertakes events and training to help build on the substantial contributions made by women across the Australian grains industry.

“This workshop topic was suggested by our female members, and we are really pleased to have had such a strong response to it.”

“On IWD, it is important that we continue to remove barriers to participation and give women the opportunity to contribute even more to the industry’s future development,” she said.

The event will be held on 8 March 2024 from 10am – 1pm at Barangaroo Boutique Wines, 928 Plush Hannans Road, Lower Norton.

Registrations for the free event close on Friday, 1 March 2024.
