Urea

The local urea market remains slow as importers and growers focus on other nutrient needs.

Argus last assessed granular urea at A$790-800/t fca Geelong.

There are 177,000t of urea in transit to Australia for arrival before 1 December, according to vessel tracking data from Kpler. A parcel has reportedly been sold at A$780/t fca Geelong for March delivery.

Phosphates

There is growing interest in SSP and MAP on the east coast of Australia, but no signs of domestic buying yet.

Importers have begun organising early shipments of phosphate fertiliser, including two shipments now on the water carrying a combined 56,200t of MAP/DAP, according to Kpler.

Australia has imported 28,500t of SSP since January 2025, according to Bessel tracking data from Kpler. Imports reached 32,500t in the same period last year, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Dyno Nobel produced 769,000t of MAP/DAP in FY25

Australian chemicals manufacturer Dyno Nobel's phosphate output rose in the October 2024 to September 2025 financial year compared with a year earlier, but fell short of its forecast.

It produced 769,000t from its Phosphate Hill MAP/DAP plant in the 2024-25 financial year, up by 4% from 739,500t a year earlier. However, the plant's output level missed the 790,000–860,000t guidance, but benefited from strong commodity prices, Dyno Nobel said on 17 November.

Elders sold 1 million tonnes of fertiliser in FY25

Australian agribusiness Elders sold 1 million tonnes of fertiliser in its financial year ending 30 September 2025, down from 1.2 million tonnes a year earlier, the firm said today.

The company's total retail sales increased by 2% to A$3.2b ($2.1b) in the 2024-25 financial year despite the fall in fertiliser sales. The firm's retail sales were led by fertiliser and animal health products, which offset a drop in crop protection product sales caused by dry conditions in Victoria and South Australia.
