GrainGrowers’ submission regarding the GTA Technical Guideline Document on Sampling
GrainGrowers welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback regarding the GTA Technical Guidelines Document (TGD) on Sampling. GrainGrowers members have reported a significant variation in grain sample discrepancies across many receival sites in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. In particular, there is reported to be significant discrepancy in samples collected by (primarily manual) vacuum sampling probes. Unrepresentative sampling imposes significant financial costs on grain growers and the has negative impacts on the broader Australian grain supply chain. GrainGrowers has recommended a number of actions be taken by Grain Trade Australia to ensure that representative samples are collected at grower receival sites.
