Hello everyone, my name is Kaitlin and I’m part of the team at GrainGrowers. You might have seen recently we’ve been talking about the fact that applications are open for the 2022 cohort of the Australian Grain Leaders Program. And I wanted to take just a little bit of your time today to talk about a few of my favourite things about the program.
So in case anyone’s thinking about submitting their application, hopefully, this gets you across the line.
One of the best things about the program is undoubtedly the connections that are formed, and the relationships that are built as part of the group across those 12 months. I think the shared experiences from everyone that’s a part of that group, just lead to so many insights and inspiration for people – those connections forged last well into the future.
2. Supportive Relationships
You know, this is a group of people that you can lean on for advice and support for many, many years to come.
3. Leadership Skills
I also love to watch the ‘aha moments’ that happen for the participants as they go through the course, and it’s different for everyone.
There’s always things that just make something click in your brain – “that’s the type of leader I want to be, wouldn’t that be a good idea to bring back to my farming enterprise..” – and that’s really, really rewarding.
We’ve had some terrific outcomes from leaders in terms of our alumni, we’ve had eight or nine go on to do a Nuffield Scholarship and share that knowledge that they’ve learned back with the broader industry.
4. Alumni Industry Positions
It’s also phenomenal to watch the leadership journey of our participants. We’ve got roughly 30 sitting on industry committees and board positions and we’ve seen a heap of people take risks and diversify or expand their business operation, somewhat based off the learnings and the leadership tools that they learned as part of the Australian Grand latest program.
For me, it’s also really rewarding to just get to witness the capacity for leadership that exists within our sector. There’s so many bright people that are bringing back fresh, new and innovative ideas that makes me extremely excited and hopeful for the future.
If you’ve got any questions about the program, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
Applications for AGLP 2022 close on 8 October 2021. I really encourage you to take a look at the the application today and submit one if you can.
