More than 210 photos were submitted in this year's competition. The place-getting photos join nine other farm photos from across Australia in GrainGrowers' 2018 Calendar.

GrainGrowers CEO, David McKeon said the calendar competition is very popular with our members.

“Our growers are in the best position to show case Regional Australia and these photos are evidence of the amazing land and produce we have.

“Storms seemed to have played a large role in this year's competition with various storm shots being entered,” Mr McKeon said.

Mr McKeon said each year it was a tough decision to choose a winner.

“Each year we struggle to select the top twelve let alone the top three  – we like to ensure we include a good mix of images in the calendar.

"This year we saw a variety of stand out images and a diversity that we have not seen before - in the end it came down to what photo has that ‘wow’ factor."

As for this year’s first prize getter, Danielle Borle said the win was a nice surprise right before Christmas.

"I decided to chase the storm around our farm and ended up in the middle of our wheat crop. We were very lucky that the lightning and rain missed our property and only caused a slight delay to harvest. Nonetheless the storm provided quite a show.

"I was so excited to win the first place prize. I will be putting the money towards my University photography degree," Danielle Borle said.

All GrainGrowers' members receive a copy of the 2018 Calendar.
